What Is Gelato?
People often ask us what the difference is between Gelato and Ice Cream. Here are the 3 main differences: ~Gelato has less fat.~ Luckily this does not mean less taste. We just use Milk instead of Cream. ~We don't add air to our Gelato.~ When ice cream is made it is manufactured by mixing the cream, milk and sugar. Then, air is added to increase the yield. We don't add air, which means that you’ll get a higher quality product, richer and creamier in taste. ~Gelato is served at a warmer temperature.~ Both Gelato and Ice cream are served below freezing but Gelato is frozen 10-15 degrees warmer than ice cream. This creates a much softer texture and enhances its rich taste. These 3 things combined means that the Gelato will melt in your mouth quicker and give you a more intense flavor. The Gelato products you eat here at Gelato Grotto are made in our Kitchen using state of the art equipment imported directly from Italy. We hope that you’ll enjoy its taste as much as we enjoy making it!
